Obituary for Gordon Don Richardson

Gordon Don Richardson, a former resident of Hollis Oklahoma was received into the loving arms of Jesus

on December 22, 2023 at his home in Oklahoma City at the age of eighty six.

On February 19,1937, in Hollis, Oklahoma Robert Gordon and Iva Lorene (Ford)Richardson rejoiced at

the birth of their only son, Gordon Don Richardson.

Don was raised and educated in Hollis Oklahoma. He married the love of his life Gwen (Heath)

Richardson on April 16, 1955. This marriage was blessed with four daughters, Donette, Denise, Delana

and Dee. Don was employed by Machen Grocery as a butcher and served in the Oklahoma National

Guard until he began farming and ranching in 1964. In 1976 he followed his calling and began

occasional volunteer mission work and in 1980 he became the first full time employee of Larry Jones and

Feed The Children as Director of Foreign Missions, organizing medical teams to be deployed and

assisting in the development of child sponsorship program. In 1985 Gwen retired and began traveling

with Don. The two of them traveled over 6 million miles and went to 80 foreign countries providing

countless acts of compassion and servanthood while spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ until Don’s

retirement in 2007. His free time was devoted to his favorite thing, his family, he cherished every

moment he had with his children, his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. Don leaves a legacy of

compassion, servanthood and devotion to his family and an unwavering faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus

Christ.

Receiving Don at the pearly gates were his father, Robert Gordon Richardson, mother, Iva Lorene Harris

and sister, Marilyn Rudd.

Left to carry on Don’s memory and legacy are his beloved wife of sixty eight years, Gwen Richardson, his

daughters, Donette Long and husband Frankie, Denise Allison and husband Steve, Delana Ellison, Dee

Metcalf and husband Kent. Grandchildren, Steven Long and wife Amy, Shelby Long and wife Holly,

Jamie Allison and wife Tammy, Stephenie Bristow and husband Cody, Joshua Ellison and wife Dusti,

Caleb Ellison and wife Caley, Malachi Ellison and wife Maxine, Keegan Metcalf and wife Graham, Devyn

Elliott and husband Isaac, and Dalyn Metcalf. Great Grandchildren, Kyli Ellison Peeler and husband

Bryce, Merek Long, Keetin Long, Ayden Long, Alisen Bristow, Bayler Bristow, Chaysen Bristow, Aubree

Allison, Parker Allison, Kendalyn Shaw, Garrett Shaw, Sean Ellison and Hadleigh Ellison and Landry

Metcalf. Great Great Grandchildren, Beck Shaw and Averi Peeler. Sister-in-law, Pam Heath, Brother in

law Tom Rudd and many special extended family members.

Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday December 27, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Hollis.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Harmon County Funeral Home, Hollis, Oklahoma.
