Obituary for Desiderio Cuevas, III
Desiderio Cuevas III (Junior) age 67 of Hollis passed away Wednesday December 20th, 2023.
Junior was born October 19, 1956, in Brownfield, Texas, to Desiderio Il and Olivia (Rodriquez) Cuevas.
The Cuevas family left Mathis, Texas in 1964 to settle in Hollis, Oklahoma and ended up calling it home. Junior attended Hollis Public School and was a member of the Hollis Church of Christ. Being the youngest of three brothers gave Junior the advantage of being lovingly cared for by his six sisters. Junior's mother, Olivia, was his rock throughout his life until her passing on January 27, 2018, at the age of eighty-nine and half.
Junior enjoyed walking all over Hollis to visit Family and friends. Junior had a kind heart and a unique since of humor that allowed him to mingle with friends, especially two that were there for him through the good bad and crazy times, Billy Don and Mike Martinez. He also liked riding his bicycle. That hobby started when his dad gifted him a surprise banana seat bicycle on his 12" birthday. Junior accepted the Hollis Nursing Home as his home for the last two years and was happy there (Thank You to all the staff).
Junior was proceeded in death by his parents, one nephew and one brother-in-law.
He is survived by his sisters, Lola Arballo, Gloria Arredondo, Olivia Barrett, Olga and husband Richard Gonzales, Lydia and husband Jose Sanchez and Irene and husband John Gore; Two brothers, John Cuevas and William and Olga Cuevas.
A come and go visitation will be held friday, December 28, 2023 at Harmon County Funeral Home, Hollis, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2023 at Harmon County Funeral Home, Hollis, Oklahoma with interment to follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Hollis, Oklahoma.
Services have been entrusted to Harmon County Funeral Home, Hollis, Oklahoma.
