Ernie Adams, age 71 of Vinson, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at his home north of Vinson.
Ernie was born in Mangum on April 16, 1946 to his parents Arvie Lee Adams and Frances Charlene (Marple) Adams. He grew up in Greer County and served in the United States Navy. On July 15, 1982 Ernie married Kathryn “Kay” Adams at the Spring Creek Baptist Church south of Sayre and they moved to Vinson where they have lived ever since. He worked as meat processor at the butcher shop in Mangum; worked on custom harvest crews up through Canada and back; he worked as a journeyman for North Fork Electric in Sayre; he worked for Harmon County District 1 for many years as a heavy equipment operator where he retired; and Ernie worked the land as farmer and rancher his whole life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, hunting snakes was a passion for Ernie, he always enjoyed spending time with friends and would go above and beyond to help other people. Ernie was always happy to see people and everyone knew him by his laugh.
Preceded in death by his parents and his wife Kay and one sister, Angie Avant; Ernie is survived by one brother, Darrell Adams of Texas; four sisters, Gladys Pool of Cordell; Hilma Hamlett of North Carolina; Sarah Moore of Burns Flat; and Blanche Adams of Willow; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
Burial took place at Cave Creek Cemetery in Vinson. Graveside memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Cave Creek Cemetery in Vinson.
